TREKKING ROUTES & DETAILS

All of our trekking routes are carried out inside Madidi National Park.

Code T1 Caijene to Aguapolo 6 to 8 days. This is the shortest trekking route we have. First we cross the Beni River and register at the Madidi Park central office. Afterwards we take a car that will take us to the Caijene stream, the beginning of our trip. The route follows this stream to its headwaters and beyond, crossing the Bala mountain range next to Wizard Mountain. On the other side of the mountains the route descends across tailless Jungle to arrive to the Aguapolo River, which you’ll follow all the way to the Tuichi, where a boat will be waiting to take you back. On the way back you’ll stop to seal your park entrance ticket.
Notes: Does not include National Park entrance: $18
 Prices per day per pax:  2 pax: $50   3 pax:  $45   4 pax:  $40   5 pax:  $35

CodeT2 Maije Arana Tuichi 9 to 12 days. This very complete jungle trek starts by registering in the National Park central office on the other side of the river. Then a car will take you to the beginning of the trek. You will follow the Maije stream to its headwaters and across the Bala mountain range. On the other side you will descend through trail less jungle to the Arana River. In this part of the trek we get reports of jaguar and many other animal sightings in our trips. The guides say: “here you don’t need to search for the animals, they find you”. The trip continues following the Arana River to the Tuichi, where the boat will be waiting to pick you up. You can choose to visit our Madidi camp in the Tuichi River and the Macaw cliff.  On the way out you will stop to seal your Park ticket.
Notes: Does not include National Park entrance: $18
Prices per day per pax:  2 pax: $50   3 pax:  $45   4 pax:  $40   5 pax:  $35

Code T3 Hondo “deep” River: 8 to 12 days Very beautiful and different river where if you have enough time and luck you might help us find some ancient pre-incaic ruins. This trek begins by registering at the National Park central office. Then you continue on Boat for four hours to our Madidi Camp on the Tuichi River, where you will stay a night. From there you will start trekking across the deep jungle and across a small mountain range to the Hondo River. Once there, if you have time you may choose to search for the undiscovered ruins. Afterwards you will continue following the Hondo River to its meeting with the Beni, where the boat will be waiting to take you back to Rurrenabaque. Very recommended.
Prices per day per pax:  2 pax: $50   3 pax:  $45   4 pax:  $40   5 pax:  $35

Code T4 Alto Madidi. 15 to 25 days. From this trip we get report of up to 6 Jaguar sightings per trip. This is a region of the park further away from people and thus very unexplored. You will register at the National Park office and then travel for 6 hours on a jeep to the beginning of the trek. This begins on the Tequeje River which crosses the Bala mountain range. Then it continues through the jungle to the Alto Madidi River. You will fish to complete protein needs. This is our best all-jungle adventure.

Code T5 A. Cross Madidi Park. B. From the Amazon to the Andes. 10 or 25 days.  This is the most complete, exceptional trip of all. The only way to know all the different ecosystems found in Madidi Park. A. Begins with a Jeep trip to a native Tacana town of Tumupasa. There you’ll have lunch and visit the town. The trip continues through the Bala mountains to San Jose de Uchupiamonas where you’ll rest and visit of this unique Tacana-Quechua town (you can choose to travel to this place on boat). Then the long trek begins through the deepest part of Madidi. You will cross a great deal of foot of the mountains Jungle and then you begin climbing mountains through low cloud forest and mid cloud forest. On the way there are several isolated indigenous communities with less than 20 inhabitants each, and near them there are reports of unexcavated ancient ruins. Nearing the 8th day, you’ll enter a unique type of ecosystem called inter-andean dry forest and inter-andean savannah.  The trip ends in the town of Apolo where you will rest in a hotel and where a jeep or bus will take you back to La Paz. (10 hours) B. To fully know what Madidi Park is all about you should choose this option. After 2 nights of rest in Apolo, you will continue on an Inca trail and begin climbing to the Andes. You will cross the inter-andean savannahs and start climbing through mid cloud forest, high cloud forest, mountain eyebrow vegetation, “yungas” vegetation and high Andean vegetation. You will cross a 5,500 meter mountain pass and stop at isolate Aimara, Callawaya and Quechua indigenous villages. You’ll finally arrive to the town of Pelechuco, at the foot of the Apolobamba Mountain range. You’ll rest for a night and then take a transport back to La Paz.

Notes: This is the maximum adventure there is. A great state of health and physical strength is required along with a good psychological disposition to spend lots of time in the Jungle and be far away from comfort. Price includes everything, including transportation to La Paz, restaurant meals, entrances and anything that might be needed on the way.  We recommend you leave unnecessary things in La Paz since you will be carrying everything on the trek plus a share of food. This trip can also be made the other way around from La Paz to Rurrenabaque.
